The world is flat
The world is flat, everyone knows this because when we walk its flat. Here on earth there is no roundness to it. If the world was round when we walked on it every corner would be round and we would fall. On maps you see, the world is flat. It's all straight lines, straight roads. There is no proof that the world is round, therfore it is flat because of my reasons above.

poem analysis
I feel like he just had a hard transition from childhood to adulthood and he doesnt really know how to deal with it. He obviously wishes he could go back in time to his childhood. He captures childhood by giving such good details about when he was younger and from age to age. I do agree with him that life was more fun and easier when we were younger but there's a point in everybodys life when we have to grow up and become "big kids."

fairytales
Beauty and the Beast: Tells a story of a girl that just wishes for a beautiful rose, but gets a beast. Her father truely loves her, and he gets a borken heart because he knows his daughter is locked in a castle with a beast. At first Beauty was upset she had to live with a scary looking monster, but then she seen the real him. She realizes he is a sweet handsome man that she soon marrys. The moral of the story is you can fall in love with someone, not from the outside but how they are inside.
Little Red Riding Hood: She was supposed to take her grandma that is sick some cakes. But on the way to her grandmas she got distracted by alot of things, then she went off of the path even though her mother told her not to. When she arrived to her grandmas the big bad wolf was their
thruber
The little girl and the wolf: I like this sattire because it's not often you hear about a story with a little girl shooting someone, especially a wolf trying to be her grandmother.
The Bear: I like this one because the moral of the story is very good, and the way the author demonstrated how everything was happenening when he took a drink, and when he got his excersise.
The fox and the crow: I like this sattire because the crow in some way "schools" the fox on what being a crow is really about, and he knows that the fox is sly.
modest proposal
1. The real thesis in this essay was ”I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled ...” Yes I think that there are other thesis', because he also talked a lot about ways on improving Ireland and how to solve their poverty situation.
2. In the paragraphs 4, 6, and 7 the appeals to logic are put into mathematical terms like when they says "at most not above the value of 2s., which the mother may certainly get, or the value in scraps, by her lawful occupation of begging; and it is exactly at one year old that I propose to provide for them in such a manner as instead of being a charge upon their parents or the parish, or wanting food and raiment for the rest of their lives, they shall on the contrary contribute to the feeding, and partly to the clothing, of many thousands." Or "I calculate there may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives are breeders; from which number I subtract thirty thousand couples who are able to maintain their own children, although I apprehend there cannot be so many, under the present distresses of the kingdom; but this being granted, there will remain an hundred and seventy thousand breeders.that esssay was ironic it was in paragraph 4 when he said "have always found them grossly mistaken in the computation. It is true, a child just dropped from its dam may be supported by her milk for a solar year, with little other nourishment; at most not above the value of 2s.,
.
4) The children, the elderly, and the parents. He thinks it's sad that the beggars have to sacrifice so much just for their family. They are in the streets begging in rags, and they are all dirty. The Irish are the ones to blame. He identifies himself with the socialist groups.
5)Yes it does. Swift does present proposals for improving functions; he says eat the children and everything will be better.
6.) Yes, I think that the essay does function as a satirical attack, basically towards Englandand no he really didn't propse any new proposals.
7.) The narrator is describing the life their and what it's like to be poor and live out as a beggar. Then he starts to discuss how we can fix the problem but he was being sarcastic about it. Then towards the end of the essay he became more serious about the problem he was discussing.
8.) I felt that Swift's piece was pretty good.It strenghtens his moments. The movement has apretty big impact. He points out the flaws of that country and makes you want to do something about it. He really makes you visualize what they were going through, which makes you want to make a difference and help.
9.) I don't think that it could be done because that's something that's so immoral.

Valentines sonnet
Valentines is a day to celebrate love. For some it is a good, for some it isnt. in my opinion most people should learn to enjoy this day and not be so negative about it if they dont have a boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife. you dont have to have a signaficant other to celebrate this day you can celebrate it with your family and friends! it definately isnt one of my favorite holidays but i enjoy it when i spend it with the people i love. and the people that love me.

Why i want a wife questions
1.
2. it makes you think about having a wife and for some people it probably makes them want a wife too.
3.I don't think she really wants a wife like that. i think some of the things she would enjoy from a wife but not ever single thing that was said. to me this spouse is unrealistic and i dont think there should be wifes like this out there. i feel like a wife needs to please their spouse but it is both of the parents jobs to take care of the children and what the children have going on and balanace it with what they have going on in their lives.
4. She explains the ideal wife of like years ago to me. she describes what some people think every wife should be like. how they should take on all the duties of the family, cook, clean, take care of the children, and i think she wants people to respond to this with how they feel like this isn't how the world and marriages work anymore. most of them atleast.
5. I liked the whole essay. I thought it was a good essay and i do agree with her on most of the things said. but i also think that the husband needs to be doing the same thing. in a marriage it takes both of the people in it not just one so everything that was said in this essay should be vise versa. for example a husband needs to keep track of the kids dentist and doctor appts. and the husband also needs night out on his own. most things in marriages work both ways, in my eyes. i feel like this was a persuasive essay because it persuas people to think about how a wife and or marriage should work and be.

i believe
Whitney Miller
Period 2
Life can be a struggle. There are a lot of things in life that can make you feel like you have no strength to move on. Wrong paths and wrong doings and distractions are around for your entire life and you have to be strong and do what’s right and stay away from the things that you know can harm you or make your life where you don’t want it to be. Distractions are everywhere and people need to have their priorities in line all the time.
Now as a teen or young adult we’re still growing up and figuring out right from wrong. We are still learning and making room for mistakes, but as an adult I feel as if you should be past the point of making mistakes and realizing your duties and responsibilities. But there are some adults out there that have more of a harder time with that task. When you have a family and children and people to take care of you need to know who and what comes first. When you do not have a family but are grown you still need to know what should be coming first in your life but your actions just won’t have as much of an affect on the people around you.
From my own experiences in life I have seen that it is harder than what it seems like to keep your priorities in line. My father is a man who means well but just cannot follow through with what he is supposed to do. I believe that my father is a good man but he just doesn’t know how to put his life together and keep it together. I believe every man needs to step up for his family and take care of them and that shouldn’t be that hard of a task, but for some mean it really is and unfortunately my dad is one. I love my dad with all my heart but it hurts me to know that my dad cannot put us first all the time like a father should due to his problems and what he has going on in his life. I know that one day he’ll get better though.

Love Is Stronger Than Death Summary
Love Is Stronger Than Death
This entry was very sad but very uplifting as well. It talked about a lady loosing her husband at such a young age when his doctors told them that he would live to be an old man because of the heart condition he had. Soon after that he collapsed in their yard one day and that was the day she lost her young husband. It was of course an awful time for her but her kids helped her move on. I feel bad for her but since she got up and was still there for her children and she didnt leave them "out to dry" when her husband died was a very brave and excellent thing to do. They just lost their dad they don't need to loose their mother also.

a powerful act of love summary
A Powerful Act of Love
this article seemed very from the heart. It was also a very cool educational story. She talked about her son and how pianos and electronic keyboards and things like that help him out and they kind of in a way communicated through the keyboard. It kind of taught me a little about disorders and what helps or amusses kids with disabilities. It was a very cute and touching story.

Where i'm from
Where I’m from
By: Whitney Miller
I’m from a hardworking mother,
A woman who did everything for her family,
Grandparents always helping us out,
From a very tight family,
From Easter Sundays at Uncle Ronnie’s and,
Christmas nights at Mimi and Papa’s.
From a father who wasn’t always there,
But tried his best.
I’m from WYB soccer games on Saturday mornings
And WYB basketball games Sunday afternoons after church.
From watching Troy and Devyn play soccer at the Vineyard Church.
I’m from watching my dad coach Varsity Girls and Boys basketball at WKHS and TWHS,
And playing for him in AAU for the past three summers.
From playing Thomas basketball for the past four years and loving it.
I’m from music.
R and B, Hip Hop, Pop, and Rock.
From music that I can relate to and music that I can dance too,
Music that makes me happy and music that makes me sad,
Music that helps me get through hard times.
I am from the hard times that have made me stronger.
From a family that has always been with me and helped me through my struggles and
Sports, that have been my outlet for years.

Helen Keller narrative questions
1. I think that this narrative was a great way to share about Helen Keller and how she dealt with her problems in life and what she had to deal with.
2 The most interesting part to me is how she feels about objects and words.
3. The thing that surprised me was when she threw her doll on the floor, and claimed she didn't love it and it didn’t matter pretty much.
4. It didn't really change my outlook on her because I felt like I already knew a lot about Helen Keller and the obstacles that life threw at her.
5. "Light! give me light!" was the wordless cry of my soul, and the light of love shone on me in that very hour.
I felt my teacher sweep the fragments to one side of the hearth, and I had a sense of satisfaction that the cause of my discomfort was removed.
Suddenly I felt a misty consciousness as of something forgotten--a thrill of returning thought; and somehow the mystery of language was revealed to me
6. sometimes it's better too see how other people feel about her, and her conditions.
7.
•school
•the birth of my brothers
•exciting experiences
•getting sick
•being in the hospital
•dramatic times in my life
•love
•loss in the family
questions about partners narrative
1. The strengths of my partners essay are really going into detail about her story and the stuff that happened
2. I found my partner using a lot of the same words over and over so I feel as if she needs to cut some of those words out and or out in different ones to make her narrative sound better. My partner also could have included more detail about the characters and people in her story.
3. I didn’t find any literary devices in my partners story.
4. The part in her paper that really stood out to me was how she felt towards her mom and the response to her mom telling her that she was pregnant.

Narrative Questions:
1. My Aunt Bonnie, yelling and very upset. I remember seeing people going to the visit room and us not being able to. I remember seeing people in the waiting area watching us and my Aunt Bonnie.
2. Yes, i believe you grow from change. Especially in this situation, she was getting bullied but just found one friend that was loyal and nice and she is now friends with her to this day. There's change everyday in life and you have to get used to it and change with change.
3. Yes it will be really relevant.
